Latheron Ploughing match on 18th Nov 2006 at

The New Overum 4 furrow reversible plough performed well in wet
conditions ploughing at 16" furrow width and 8" Deep.
The John Deere 6320SE demonstrator tractor coped well in the difficult
conditions of the day at our demonstration..

Orkney County Show - 12th Aug 2006
The largest Orkney show was a busy event from early in the morning
till after 5pm. Good weather again kept the large crowd there. We
showed the 6620 premium tractor by kind permission of Tormiston
Farm, The Stewart livestock trailer by kind permission of E Tait
& co, Dounby and the Shelbourne Reynolds Powermix diet feeder
by kind permission of Messrs Donaldson, Coldomo, Stenness. The Davidson
family took the cattle championship with the same beast that won
at Dounby.

Dounby Show - 10 Aug 2006
Despite a poor weather forecast, the show was well attended, and
the good weather for most of the day made it a successful event.
On show were the Redrock trailers and farm machinery for the first
time. Shelbourne Reynolds had the Powermix II diet feeder with improved
strength and the shear bucket and shear grabs. The John Deere lawn
and groundscare range created much interest with several people
making purchases on the day. The Hotline electric fence display
kept people back from the large Overum reversible Plough - we had
not powered it up. The Davidson family from Skaill won the cattle
championship. They had their latest JD 6920 tractor on show at the
fancy dress parade in the evening. The autopowr stepless transmission
is easy to control at these unusual events.

Hope show - 9th Aug 2006
The show in South Ronaldsay started with a windy day and the weather
got worse. Ferries were canceled and at one stage we were asked
to move our Strautmann Vetoes II forage Wagon closer to the main
show ring so that spectators and exhibitors could get some shelter.
You have to be determined to make a show work in all weathers and
everyone put in a lot of effort.

Shapinsay show 8th Aug 2006
Good weather for showing livestock at the Shapinsay made exhibitors
happy. The weather broke in the afternoon which may have reduced
some of the non farming spectator numbers. The Leslie family from
Quoymorhouse won the cattle championship and the sheep champion
was shown by. We had the Cow comfort slat mats on show developing
some interest. The John Deere 115 42" lawn tractor is always
a hit with the show visitors young and old.

Orkney East Mainland show - 5th Aug 2006
On show were the John Deere 6320SE tractor with 631 front loader
and for the first time the Strautmann 1030 Vertimix diet feeder.
Customers were impressed by the Heavy Duty build of the feeder that
can chop, mix and feed to either side. The winning ticket for the
prize draw at the Orkney shows was drawn as a result of a purchase
at the East Mainland show by Mr G Sclater from Stenness.

Sanday show - 4th Aug 2006
Good weather for the livestock and spectators brought a large turnout.
On Show were the 115 lawn tractor and Agritubel Bull yoke. Paxton
troughs and John Deere toys and clothing.

15th July 2006 - Caithness County show - Scrabster
Glorious weather made for a great Caithness show day. On show were
the Strautmann forage wagon and 1030 Vertimix feeder. The John Deere
sun hats were very popular. The John Deere lawn and groundscare
machines generated several orders. The first showing of the Slat
covers from I.C.E may be one to watch for the future.

Orkney District Young Farmers ploughing match

A Dry day at made for a good days ploughing. The unfortunate clash
of dates with the junior speech making final reduced the number
of entries. Winner of the one way section was David Flett of Stank,
and the reversible class was won by Richard Scott.

Shaun Macleod Wins Scalford Groundscare Cup -
DEC 2005

Shaun Macleod was the 2nd year Agricultural Engineering Apprentice
at Brooksby training college who won the "Scalford Groundscare
Co" cup for the second year apprentice making the most continuous
effort. Well done Shaun. He works in the Watten service department
in Caithness.

Sandwick Young Farmers Ploughing Match 12th Nov
2005
Gale force weather made the match at Garson a difficult spectator
sport, but 16 ploughmen and women turned out. Daniel Ritch was overall
champion and won the one-way section. The reversible section was
dominated by the ladies, with Kerry Wood winning followed by Nicola
Stanger, then Mark Heddle taking 3rd position. Mark is an apprentice
agricultural engineer with R B Flett Ltd and was grateful for the
use of the new JD 6420s 120hp 4 valve common rail tractor. The new
owners were the Sinclair family from Unigarth in Sandwick who kindly
gave him permission to use it at the ploughing match.

Orkney County Show 13th Aug 2005
Surprisingly good weather defied all forecasts to make a great
show day. The John Deere 9540i combine was on show by kind permission
of Tormiston Farm, Stenness. A large stand allowed us to show products
from most franchises. The John Deere 730 centre pivot mower conditioner
and 578 round baler got much interest. It was the last day for purchases
to win the Battery Gator toy which was won by Robbie Rendall.

Bettyhill Gala day - 13th Aug 2005
At our first show in Bettyhill we had the John Deere ride on and
walk behind lawn mowers, Ecorider ATV, The John Deere HPX4x4 Diesel
high performance 40k diesel ATV utility vehicle. John Deere toys
and merchandising products were also brought along by Donald Harper.

Dounby Show- Orkney West Mainland 11th August 2005
The Marquee was erected in expectation of poor weather
but was fortunately never needed. Many admired the new Equimat
horse and cattle mats inside the tent. The first showing of the
Strautmann Super vitesse forage wagon caused much interest with
it's steering axle and heavy duty construction. Shelbourne Reynolds
had the Generation II powermix popular diet feeder with new design
heavier construction. Also the swing farm post driver. The JD
3800 pivot steer telehandler showed a different style of telehandling.
The first showing of the John Deere 5315 65hp tractor showed a
tractor at 2.4m (less than 8foot high) with pwer reversor oil
clutching. The Abbey 1600 vacuum tanker had many features and
was well priced.

At the Hope show, on the 10th, we showed the JD 6820 135hp tractor
by kind permission of E&W Dass, Bu, Burray. Raymond Flett had
animal health products on display from Provita and Agrihealth and
the Rees stock trailer with Kawasaki trimmer and JD lawn mowers.

Shapinsay Show - Shapinsay School, Shapinsay,
Orkney

On Tuesday the 9th the sun shone on glorious Shapinsay show day.
We showed the John Deere 5820 88hp powerquad plus tractor with laforge
folding front linkage. Draper and Vapormatic tools were popular.The
Reco Fella KM167 drum mower was on display by kind permission of
Rendall Brothers, Braefoot, Shapinsay. Cattle champion was Messrs
Muir and sons, Gorn with a calf and Sheep champion was C Sclater,
Lorness.

East Mainland Show - St Andrews, Orkney
Held in St Andrews on the 6th of August 2005 we showed the JD 6620
125hp premium with ecoshift transmission. Tests have shown that
this combination has improved the fuel efficiency of these tractors
dramatically. The Diesel high perfomance John Deere Gator utility
vehicle was shown with a spraytech sprayer system and seemed very
popular. Supreme champion was Jill Spence of Wideford with her Horse.

Sanday Show - Sanday School, Sanday,
Orkney

On 5th August the show in Sanday had mixed weather but a good turnout
of stock and trade stands. We showed the JD 6220SE tractor with
low profile cab and the Stewart LIvestock float. Dickies oil skins
were our best seller as the weather deteriorated and many ran for
shelter in the large livestock float. The Ecorider diesel bike drew
some interest particularily by those concerned about fuel economy.
The Leslie family from Lopness were supreme champions with their
cow.

Caithness County Show at Westerseat, Wick
- 16 July 2005
The dry start to the day encouraged an increased gate at the show
this year, but the weather changed to rain later in the day. The
day started well for us as it was announced that we had won the
"best trade stand" competition. 3 of the 6 John Deere
tractors on show are sold to local customers. We showed the new
5315 65hp with power reversor transmission. The electric powerred
E Gator utility vehicle created a lot of interest as did the new
HPX4x4 diesel utility vehicle. New for this year were the Ecorider
Diesel and petrol All Terrain Bikes. Shelbourne Reynolds showed
the Powermix II feeder with new discharge doors which we hope to
demonstrate later this year. The Stewart Livestock trailer was on
show for the first time.

In July we sponsered the show champion at the cattle sale in Thurso
mart.

South Ronaldsay Golf Club Opens - 11th June 2005
After more than 6 years work the South Ronaldsay golf club opened
this month. The Club house was packed on the opening day. R B Flett
Ltd supplied the machines including JD 2653A utility mower, JD 2500
triplex greens mower, JD 22B walk behind greens mower, JD 1040 tractor
and attachments, Kawasaki brush cutter, Allen hover mower, etc.
We demonstrated the new John Deere HPX4x4 diesel high performance
Gator utility vehicle on the day

match- Scrabster Farm, Thurso
On the 19th February the postponed ploughing match took place
J. Tait won with 165 points. We had our JD 5820 88hp tractor demonstating
that it can plough well with the dowdeswell 3 furrow reversible
plough

EMERGENCY FOAM TANKER FOR TALISMAN- 25 Jan 2005

Talisman enegy will get their second emergency foam tanker this
afternoon. This tanker was built to their specifications by us.
Arthur Moar has worked closely with staff in Flotta to provide machines
to suit the pumping and fire protection equipment they need.

Christmas Fat stock show and sale -Orkney Mart
- 8th Dec 2004
Raymond Flaws from Nisthouse in Evie took the champion Sheep competition
and George Muir of Gorn in Shapinsay showed the champion in the
cattle section. R B Flett ltd sponsored the best heifer competition
won by a beast shown by Richard Taylor of Brancherhouse in Birsay.
We had the new Shelbourne Reynolds powermix II diet feeder on show,
the Teagle 8080 bedder feeder and Stewart Livestock float. From
John Deere we had the popular 5820 88hp tractor, the 6920 autopowr
160hp, and the E Gator utility vehicle. Christmas trees and John
Deere Toys were very popular.

Orkney County show - Kirkwall - 14th August 2004
Great weather brought huge crowds to the Bignold
park for Orkney's largest show. K & P Sinclair showed the new
JD 7300 self propelled forage harvester with its amazing technology
for changing chop length on the move.
The JD 3215 telehandler with payload weighing was
on display as was the first 5315 tractor in Orkney. This tractor
is only 2.4m high and comes with 5 different transmission options
power is from 55-80hp.
This latest John Deere in Orkney was placed next
to the first JD in Orkney as far as we know. The model H owned by
Mr. Campbell originally came to Sanday in 1939 for a Mr. Muir of
Benzicot. John Deere owns Vapormatic now, so the "Parts Country"
store of parts and toys was very busy.

Winner of the sheep section was Mr. J Leitch, Feolquoy, Evie and
Messrs. Johnston, Hewan, Shapinsay won the cattle section.

West Mainland Agricultural show Dounby 12th August
2004
The Dounby show has developed in to a major machinery show with
many people remarking that they had never seen such a big show of
machines. The JD 6920S autopower premium plus took the eye of many,
with the command arm controls and technology. The first showing
of the JD F530 pivot steer mower and the Opico rollers with shattapress
were impressive. The West SEKO diet feeder was a solution for many
people with specific livestock feeding requirements. Liam Muir from
Midhouse in Harray took the cattle championship and Alton and Vera
Copland from Overhouse in Harray won the Sheep championship.

Hope Show - St. Margaret's hope 11th August 2004
Raymond Flett took the JD 5820 tractor with a Rees ATV stock trailer
and parts to the show in South Ronaldsay. Great weather made a pleasant
show day. The Thomson family from Newbigging won the cattle championship.

Cunningsburgh Show - Shetland 11th August 2004
A hectic show schedule meant that Robbie and Ann Flett made the
longer journey from Caithness to represent the firm in Shetland.
Robbie felt it was great to Shetland and meet up with many of the
customers he has worked with over the years
. Some
of our youngest customers were delighted by the John Deere toys
they brought with them. On show were the JD 6420S ecoshift 120hp
tractor and 578 baler with McHale HS2000 wrapper.

Shapinsay show - 10th August
Fantastic weather made a very pleasant day out in Shapinsay. The
prize draw battery gator was a big hit with the kids as were the
John deere toys for sale. The Leslie family from Quoymorhouse beat
off stiff competition to win the cattle championship and the Sheep
champions were the Millers and Sinclairs from Haquoy.

East Mainland Show - 7th Aug. 2004
A new show layout meant the machinery was nearer the road and livestock
at the lower end of the field. Safety had improved and seemed to
make the show easier to watch. We showed the JD 5820 88hp tractor
and the new twose round bale handler with some toys and Vapormatic
parts. The Baillies from Biggings won the supreme with a Charolais
cow.

Sanday Agricultural Show - 6th Aug. 2004
A Wedding in North Ronaldsay meant the boat trips to Sanday were
packed with passengers for both islands, and the trade stand holder
had to put plant out the day before. We showed the 5820 tractor
Fraser F68 trailer and new Ritchie sheep turnover crate. Fantastic
weather in the afternoon ensured that a large crowd stayed to watch
Mrs. Sinclair from Backaskaill's horse win the supreme championship.

Caithness Agricultural show - Scrabster 17th
July 2004
We had a larger machinery stand at the show which generated a lot
of interest. The 200hp 7920 tractor with greenstar parallel tracking
using GPS was a highlight when shown with the new triple mower conditioner
combination. This machine was on show by kind permission of Messrs.
Mackay, West Greenland. Other new machines for this year were the
O'Neil cattle feeders, West diet feeder, Pottinger forage wagon,Reco
Maschio power harrow, John Deere F530 front mount lawn mower. A
large thunder storm at the end unfortunately forced cancellation
of some of the later events and cleared the show.

Orphir Agricultural Society ploughing match -
Hobister farm 13 March 2004

An overcast day did not deter the Orphir ploughmen and women. Ian
Mackay ploughed in the one way section
with help from Duncan Ritch.

David Linklater used our demonstrator 6620SE 125hp and was helped
by Arnold Mathers.

Ian Slater won the one-way, David Slater the reversible and Mervyn
Ballantyne the general purpose.

Orkney West Mainland Agricultural Society ploughing
match - Garson, Sandwick
35 ploughmen and women competed on a fine day with the occasional
winter shower. Clive Chalmers won the reversible class, Alan Craigie
the one-way, Jackie Hay the general-purpose and Sammy Isbister the
vintage section. We ploughed for the first time with a John Deere
5820 tractor pulling a Dowdeswell 3 furrow reversible in the demonstration
field.

Orkney County Ploughing match at Midhouse and
Newton, Evie
Great weather for the 38 ploughmen and women at the match made
for a pleasant days ploughing. We demonstrated the new version of
the John Deere 6620 premium showing the new layout inside the cab,
triple link front suspension, hydraulic cab suspension and the 4
valve per cylinder common rail engine. Despite being only 125hp
it lifted the 5 furrow reversible Dowdeswell plough with ease and
and pulled it comfortably up and down the hill. The tractor was
on show by kind permission of D & N Sclater, Tormiston, and
the Plough by kind permission of I D Sinclair. Heads, South Ronaldsay.

We had the new JD 5820 88hp tractor on display showing the powerquad
40k transmission and low profile cab. Plough metal was shown for
all makes including Kveneland, MF, Overum, JD and Dowdeswell. The
general purpose section was won by Billy Clouston, Firth; One-way
by Duncan Ritch, Stromness; Reversible by Clive Chalmers, Stromness,
Vintage by Sammy Isbister, Stromness.

Birsay ploughing match - 7th Feb. 2004 at Fea
and Ingsay
Snowy showers made the Birsay match a day for the more determined.
Despite the conditions 18 ploughs competed. Our demonstrator JD
6620se tractor was used in competition by Mr. Mitchel in the Reversible
class

2004 at Stratheast Holm
Wet weather preceded the East Mainland match where 18 ploughs competed.
We displayed the JD 6320 100hp powrquad tractor and the Reco Maschio
3m power harrow. William Harcus from Quanterness won the reversible
class.

Stromness ploughing match - 17th Jan 2004 -Brettobreck
and Drydale
23 ploughmen and women enjoyed great weather for the Stromness
match. Clive Chalmers won the reversible class, Rosemary Marwick
the general purpose, and Brian Johnston the one-way. We Displayed
the Dowdeswell 5 furrow reversible plough with DDS bodies painted
with Vapormatic plough Varnish, The JD 6320SE 100 hp tractor, Reco
Maschio 3m Rapido power harrow, and the new JD 6620SE 125 hp tractor.

Orkney Young Farmers ploughing match 10/1/04
- Caldale St. Ola
Poor weather in the morning mellowed to make the match a pleasant
spectacle for all. Adam Garrioch won the best ploughed rig for Sandwick
young farmers. Mechanical failure dogged some competitors with David
Fraser having to pull out because the tractor supplied by the dealer
was not set up to pull the plough, and Michael Kemp had a 3 point
linkage calibration failure which meant he had to return the new
tractor to the dealer and finish the rest of the rig with a Deere.

17/12/2003 Construction of new Store in Orphir

The shelving and lighting are being installed in
the new store in Orphir.
The floor was painted last week after the new doorway
was cut through into the old store.

Farmers evening to celebrate 25 years with John
Deere
Over 240 people joined us in our celebration on the 11th of November.
The 5020 series tractors were on show as were the 6020se tractors
and the premium 6020 series with 4 valve common rail engines. Many
customers were surprised to see the PARTS COUNTRY range of parts
from Vapormatic were so well priced and the range covered all makes.
George Livingstone from John Deere gave a presentation on past,
present and future farm machinery.

match held at Stanstill, Wick in November 2003
